The Rigveda is a collection of Vedic Sanskrit hymns,It is one of the four canonical sacred texts of Hinduism known as the Vedas.
The Rigveda is the book of mantra and contains the oldest form of the sanskrit mantras.

The Vedas are the ancient scripture available as the original literary proof of Indian civilization. They contain all the spiritual knowledge about all aspect of life. All the rule regulation whether social, domestic, legal or religious are derived from The Vedas. Beside it, they contain a lot of knowledge about Engineering, Medicines, Astrology, Astronomy, Biology, Philosophy, Physics, Chemistry and much more that even could not be understood yet.

The exact time of Vedas can’t be defined because in Ancient India those were only studied verbal in form of Vedic Hymns in Guru-Shishya Parmapara at Gurukules, that’s why they are called Shruti.

The Vedas were primarily collected by Vyasa Krishna Dwaipayana around the 1500 BC according to western archeologist and 3500 BC according to our Indian studies but nothing in both is free from uncertainty. Each Veda consists of four parts –

The Brahmanas - Ritualistic texts and include principle and religious duties. Vedas have several Brahmanas in it.

The Aranyakas – The forest texts mean to serve as objects of meditation for ascetics who live in forests and deal with theology (spirituality) and symbolism.

The Upanishads - The philosophies form the concluding portions of the Veda and therefore called the “Vedanta” or the end of the Veda and contain the essence of Vedic teachings

The Upanishads and the Aranyakas are the concluding portions of the Brahmanas, which talk about philosophical troubles.

The Rig Veda- the very first and main in all Vedas consisting the oldest form of all the Sanskrit mantras. It’s constructed around a science of resonance which figure out the meaning and power of each letter. Most part of Vedic science like the practice of mantra, meditation, yoga and Ayurveda are originated from the Rig Veda.

The Sam Veda- It is derived from the Rig Veda consisting the hymns with more musical Chant. Sam Veda is a compact version of main one Rig Veda. Lord Krishna had said in Geeta, “I am Sam Veda in All Vedas”. Hence the importance of Sam Veda can be understood. The secret is in its melodious footnote and representation. The Sama Veda represents the joy of spiritual knowledge and the supremacy of devotion. If Rig Veda is a sentence, the Sama Veda is its song or the meaning. The Rig Veda is the knowledge, the Sama Veda its realization. Both are incomplete without Each other

The Yajur Veda - Seen by the surface vision, it is the Veda of ritual but at an inner level, it sets out a yogic practice for purifying the mind and awakening the inner consciousness. . It was the most important Veda used by the priests in ancient India and has a lot in similar with the “Egyptian Book of the Dead”. Its divine beings are same as the Rig Veda’s. The purpose of its ritual is to put together and recreate the Cosmic Man or Indra within ourselves. Its sequence of sacrifices comes to end in the Atmayajna or the self-sacrifice in which the ego is offered to the Divine. Whereas the minor sacrifices win the minor worlds, the Self-sacrifice triumphs all the worlds and achieve the greatest award “immortality”.

The Atharva Veda- The most recent of the Vedas. It even has not for all time been established as a Veda, which are often spoken of as three. It consist of lots of hymns from the Rig Veda but more diverse in nature. Some are very glorious like the Rig Veda and some of more ordinary nature. In fact, The Yajur Veda is the primary source of information about sacrifices in the Vedic times and associated rituals hence presents us a improved idea about the life of common people in Vedic times. The language is a slight easier and less variable in its forms.
